Landscape Technician II

Under the guidance of the Landscape Foreman, the Landscape Technician plays a crucial role in rejuvenating damaged landscapes through repair projects. The position involves various tasks such as grading terrain, installing sod and seed, repairing irrigation systems, and enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of outdoor spaces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Grades and smooths terrain with shovels and rakes to be suitable for installing sod or seed.
  • Installs sod, grass seed, shrubbery, flowers, and occasionally trees to restore landscapes to their original conditions.
  • Distributes pine straw or mulch around new landscaping.
  • Responsible for repairing irrigation systems as needed to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Cleans streets and driveways.
  • Installs silt fence to retain soil and prevent runoff.
  • Communicates clearly and courteously with property owners and the public.
  • Responsible for assisting the Facilities Maintenance Specialists with maintaining the grounds at Henry County Water Authority main campus. 
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be at least 21 years of age.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Georgia Driver's License required. Flagging certification or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
