Program Coordinator – STEM Access Programs

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:
The Southern Regional Education Board’s (SREB) Office of Postsecondary Education is seeking a candidate for a Program Coordinator – STEM Access Programs position that will primarily work to assist SREB’s Program Specialist with coordinating the Open Educational Resources (OER) and the National Consortium for Open Educational Resources (NCOER). The position will have additional responsibilities assisting the Program Specialist with coordinating SREB’s Educational Technology Cooperative (ED TECH), Takeda HBCU STEM Immersion, Industry, and Innovation (I3) Fellows Program to expand access and participation to STEM in education especially for historically disadvantaged populations in the southern region. This position will also reinvigorate the work SREB started with the Distance Learning Policy Laboratory and connect it to the ED TECH and Open Educational Resources (OER) initiatives.
What will the Program Coordinator – Stem Access Programs do?
- Coordinating with the Program Specialist for OER, and in consultation with the Program Director for Student Success and Access, and Vice President for Postsecondary Education, identifies and cultivates relationships with potential funders.
- Networks with national, regional, and state organizations that are performing open policy and practice work in higher education. Informs the leaders of those organizations of the regional compact OER work, facilitates collaboration, and identifies potential conflicts or overlaps in services offered.
- Assist Program Specialist compiling and maintaining OER contacts in the region and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
- Support Program Specialist with the production of surveys; communicating with stakeholders; interpreting program policies; fostering best practices; and responding to inquiries.
- Assist with development of State OER Action Teams and related communications.
- Schedule and manage meetings for State OER Action Teams
- Assist Program Specialist with coordinating conferences, advisory group meetings and workshops for and with ED-Tech advisory council.
- Represent SREB and its programs, chair or facilitate when needed at external meetings with a variety of public, private, and non-profit groups and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and develop new initiatives and a new agenda that support the work of DLPL as it relates to the three overarching themes. (Increased access, improved and sustained quality and cost efficiency.)
- Assist with research and writing and editing white papers, reports and other communication materials including visual aids, as it relates to distance learning.
- Organize a new group of experts to support SREB’s DLPL initiative and establish new key issues and policy recommendations for the southern region.
- Collect and analyze Takeda I3 student performance data.
- Schedule and conduct site visits of assigned caseloads for participating postsecondary institutions across the southern region to monitor grant-funded activities.
- Coordinate with the Program Director the development and oversight of administrative and fiscal processes and procedures for Takeda I3 Program.
- Work with the manager and Communications staff in developing or maintaining program websites and other e-communication strategies.
- Manage relationships with program members, partners, participants, and state agencies, including providing technical assistant for the various program services and maintaining a contacts database.
Bachelor's degree in public administration, education, or a related field; AND two (2) years of project management and administrative support experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
