    SREB has an exciting opening for someone who is passionate about improving education!  As an Executive Assistant, you will support leadership members and working with elected officials from sixteen states to advance the work of SREB.

    What does an
    Executive Assistant do?

    • Serves as liaison with staff, representatives of other organizations and the public by obtaining and providing information, facilitating the resolution of problems and concerns and ensuring a timely response from the appropriate office.
    • Supports Vice Presidents with coordination and assistance in scheduling complex group meetings involving external participants. 
    • Meets with Vice President and reviews calendars to ensure that vice president has materials, information, and support needed for upcoming meetings and events.
    • Relieves the Vice President(s) of certain administrative matters by following up on projects, transmitting information, and keeping informed of pertinent activities.
    • Researches, compiles and summarizes a variety of informational or statistical materials; contacts representatives of various organizational offices to obtain materials on behalf of the Vice President.
    • Facilitates the processing of forms and documentation for approval and signature; seeks to reduce the time the vice president spends on tasks that could be delegated.
    • Performs travel related tasks
    What does it take to be an Executive Assistant?
    Two (2) years of college-level coursework in public administration or a closely related field; AND four (4) years of administrative support experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    Required knowledge of:
    • Budget administration practices.
    • Principles and practices of contract and contractor management.
    • Principles and practices of project management.
    • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
    • Use of specified computer applications involving word processing, data entry and/or standard report generation.
    • Standard office practices and procedures, including filing and the operation of standard office equipment.
    • Business letter writing and the standard format for materials/communications.
    Required Skill in:
    • Performing complex and varied administrative support duties.
    • Maintaining accurate office files.
    • Administration of assigned budgets and accounts.
    • Managing contracts and contractors.
    • Composing correspondence independently or from brief instructions.
    • Entering data into a computer system with speed and accuracy.
    • Working independently to accomplish assignments and responsibilities.
    • Experience with hosting webinars on Zoom and TEAMS
    • Experience interacting with elected and appointed officials
    • Proficiency in Word and Excel
    • Experience supporting multiple supervisors
    Coordinates administrative staff in scheduling relief of front-desk staff.
    Additional Requirements:
    • This position is located at SREB headquarters, in midtown Atlanta.
    • Occasional overnight travel required.
    • Successful completion of a background investigation and drug test.
