    Use the Whole Stage

Community Day with Leadership Henry was a day I had anticipated for some time. Having moved from Savannah 2 years ago, I longed for the type of community relationships I had known previously as an active volunteer. Enter Leadership Henry.

When I think about Community Day, the one word that comes to mind is RESOURCES! We are rich with resources to meet the changing needs of our county and our families.

Community Day gave great insight into both the needs of our community as well as the incredible working being done in Henry County by many organizations and citizens. So many great organizations and so many opportunities to engage!

The second part of the day was spent visiting two other community resources, Henry County Performing Arts Center (PAC) and Southern Belle Farm. The Performing Arts Center is truly a state-of-the-art facility where kids from across the county can participate in first-class productions and learn the technical side of theatre. Hearing stories of how Southern Belle Farm became what it is today was truly inspiring as well.

As we were wrapping up our session at PAC, Chip talked about teaching kids to "use the whole stage" because "everyone out there bought a ticket." That message stuck with me. As leaders, we are called to use the whole stage. We are called to serve in this wonderful community that is rich with resources. Well done, Leadership Henry!

This update was provided by Marian Teuton, Billing Services Manager at Georgia Power Company, and participant of Leadership Henry Class of 2020. Marian believes participation in the program is providing a terrific opportunity to learn about and engage in our thriving community.
