    Our Powerful Community

There's so much that happens when community members all gather together in one room. In fact, that's exactly what happened on October 16, 2019. Representatives from many of the nonprofits including Connecting Henry, Haven House, Kiwanis Club, Rotary, Raise Me Up Foundation, Senior Services, and so many more, all met together and shared what their organization is doing in our community. Just to be a witness and hear of the exciting and motivational things that these organizations do on a daily basis left me in awe. I keep telling myself that I'm blessed to live in Henry County because the community truly supports its citizens. Along with hearing from nonprofit representatives, we were actually able to visit some of the organizations as well, such as A Friend's House. And, holy moly, I was forever changed. A Friend's House is truly a home for our youth in the foster care system. Besides it being a wholesome, feel-good organization, now I know that the children without a roof over their heads have shelter. They are surrounded by friends and people who care for their well-being. Overall, Community Day was an amazing experience and I am forever thankful that I was able to participate in such a day!

This update was provided by Taylor Welch, Assistant Program Director for the Connecting Henry S.W.A.G. Program, and one of the Class of 2020 participants in Leadership Henry. As a lover of Henry County, Welch is excited to make new connections that will benefit residents.
