  • Beauty within the Capitol

Our State Government Day began with a visit to our State Capitol. It was quite impressive to see it in person for the first time. The stonework detail on the outside, only to be
complimented with the exquisite marble on the inside, makes a statement that builds pride to be a Georgian. Once inside, the beautiful open rotunda allows you to see all the open floors that contain many displays that reflect our beautiful state and make it unique.
We had the distinct opportunity to meet with Senator Brian Strickland, State Representative Holly and State Representative Welch. It was very encouraging to hear from each of them all that they are doing for our great state and the upcoming plans to continue to grow Georgia economically. We also had the amazing honor to meet Governor Brian Kemp. As we continued our visit, we were able to tour the legislative chambers of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

We heard from the State School Superintendent’s office how strong our school system is, not only at the state level, but certainly very excited to hear how well Henry County is doing with our growth and progression.

We finished the day at the Department of Agriculture and Economic Development and were able to hear from State Agriculture Commissioner, Gary Black, about what the Georgia Grown Program is doing for the state of Georgia. From beginning the day with the view of the busts of so many Georgians paving the way for how strong our state is today to finishing it with the presentations of programs and initiatives to continue that growth, leaves one proud to be a part of the Georgia family.
