Business Ambassadors Program
Who are Business Ambassadors?
Business Ambassadors are professional liaisons to the business community that strengthen the Chamber's relationship to its members and the community. They believe in and support the efforts of the Chamber and are able to balance the necessary time commitment of the committee with the demands of their jobs. Ambassadors are outgoing and enjoy meeting new people and providing positive support and encouragement to other professionals.
What do Business Ambassadors do?
- Make new members feel welcome and a part of the organization
- Attend Chamber member ribbon cutting ceremonies
- Attend Business Boosters Luncheons and Business After Hours each month
- Attend Business Before Hours breakfast meetings each quarter
- Demonstrate how to network to other Chamber members
- Participate in Mobile Member Visits
- Attend monthly Ambassador meetings to learn more about the Chamber
*Ambassadors are not expected to participate in every event, although exposure to business prospects is enhanced in direct proportion to the number of people you meet. Ambassadors will also receive their name badges after paying a $9 fee for the badge.
I am a Business Ambassador. How can I help?
Wear your name badge.
Your name badge identifies you as being approachable and assists members in knowing who you are and your level of participation in the Chamber. This will also allow you to expand on your networking opportunity and recruit new Ambassadors.
Take the networking lead at Chamber events.
Mix and mingle and visit with as many people as possible at Chamber events. Sit with people you do not know. Pay particular attention to attendees who are sitting or standing alone. New members or guests may feel uncomfortable if they don't know anyone. You can draw them into the festivities. Be sure to enjoy yourself while making new business contacts and promoting your own business.
Visit a new business member whenever you have a chance.
Let them know that you are a Chamber Ambassador and welcome them into the fold. Hand out your business card and take theirs before you leave. Then take the opportunity to make a follow-up phone call. You have just made a new business contact for yourself. Be sure to promote your business in the process.
Be knowledgeable of Chamber activities.
Stay informed of Chamber events and share the information when asked. Attend committee meetings and read the newsletter. People appreciate information and will remember you for it. Encourage new members to get involved and promote the Chamber to non-members. Let everyone know that being a member of the Chamber is a benefit to any business.
Relax and enjoy yourself.
If you have fun, you will help others to do the same. Remember, you are the heartbeat of the organization. Make sure you show it.
Do something for the Chamber, your business, and yourself!
